Between Worlds:
Sophie Calle & Dyani White Hawk
ART21 / PBS
Art21 proudly presents two artist segments for Season 12 of the PBS broadcast television series “Art in the Twenty-First Century.”
The first segment features Sophie Calle:
From the Musée Picasso in Paris to millennia-old underground tunnels in Arles, Calle’s long-celebrated conceptual practice blurs boundaries between art and life to create profoundly touching works that speak to both the universal and the mundane.
The second film is a portrait of abstract artist Dyani White Hawk:
Building on centuries of tradition, White Hawk weaves together the intricate abstractions of Lakota beadwork and the legacy of modernist painting to create artworks that model how we might honor all cultures that contribute to the rich landscape of American art.
